At Kiword, we believe children's data should stay where it belongs: on their devices. Our architecture is built to minimize data collection and prioritize local AI processing.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Data: Email address and name (provided by the Parent).
  • Payment Data: Handled by Creem (we only receive confirmation of payment).
  • Usage Metadata: To provide your child's speaking progress dashboard, we collect anonymized metadata (e.g., word count, active days, and speaking speed). The actual content of your child's writing and voice recordings are processed locally and NOT uploaded to our servers.
  • Authentication: We support Google Login for ease of use, which provides us with your basic profile info (email/name).

3. How We Protect Children (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)

  • No Data Selling: We never sell or rent any user data to third parties or advertisers.
  • No Profiling: We do not use your child's data to build marketing profiles.
  • Parental Control: Parents have the right to review, delete, or export their child's data at any time by contacting [email protected].
  • Content Safety: Our AI models are strictly configured to refuse the generation of infringing, illegal, or Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Voice-to-text transcriptions, prompts, and AI coaching dialogues are stored exclusively on your local device. They are not publicly accessible or shared with anyone.
  • Cloud Sync (Optional): If you enable cloud sync for multiple devices, data is encrypted end-to-end and stored securely. You can delete this data at any time.
  • Third-Party Sub-processors: We use Creem (Payments) and cloud hosting providers for account management. We do not use third-party AI APIs that retain your data; all core AI processing is local.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Opt-out of any non-essential data collection.
